 Alabaster Walls, Local Foundations”: Global Generosity Helps Establish Myanmar Southeast District Office

TOUNGOO, MYANMAR — On January 8, 2026, the global Church of the Nazarene’s faithfulness took physical form in Toungoo, Myanmar. Amidst songs of celebration, the Myanmar Southeast District dedicated its new District Office—a milestone made possible through the global generosity of the Alabaster Offering.

The dedication was held alongside the 1st Assembly of the Myanmar Southeast District (January 8–9) under the theme “Faith and Action” (Hebrews 11:1). Approximately 160 people gathered to celebrate, including pastors, lay leaders, youth, and guests from the Southern and Central Districts.

While the gathering marked a new beginning, leaders emphasized that the building stands as a monument to partnership: Alabaster funds provided the resources to construct the facility, while the local church provided the ground it stands on.

A Mission Center Built by Global Giving

The new office is more than a building; it is a testimony to the power of the Alabaster Offering. For decades, Nazarenes around the world have poured their offerings into Alabaster boxes, trusting God to use those funds to build the Kingdom. In Toungoo, that trust has been validated.

District leaders expressed deep gratitude for this global support, noting that without Alabaster, a permanent ministry base for this region would have remained a distant dream. 

“This office is not only a building,” leaders shared during the dedication. “It represents partnership—global giving through Alabaster, and local sacrifice through the Southern District.”

From Daughter to Mother: A Local Legacy

While Alabaster raised the walls, local sacrifice laid the foundation. The land for the new office was donated by the Myanmar Southern District, the "mother district" of this new work.

This gesture represents a powerful cycle of multiplication. In 2017, the Southern District was itself a "daughter" work, born out of the Myanmar District. Over the last eight years, Southern District pastors have invested deeply in pioneer areas—planting churches, discipling believers, and enduring challenges. 

Now, the "daughter" has become a "mother." By gifting the land, the Southern District is helping the Southeast District take a major step toward becoming a fully organized Phase II District. This act of generosity ensures that the new district has a debt-free, permanent foundation for future ministry.

A “Home Base” for Vision 2030

The Alabaster-funded office is now the strategic "home base" for the district’s aggressive Vision 2030 goals. It will serve as the training ground and logistical hub where:

•  50 new churches will be planned.
•  50 discipleship groups will be launched.
•  150 salvation training sessions will be coordinated.
•  40 new ministers (20 licensed, 20 ordained) will be equipped for service. 

Prayer Requests

The Myanmar Southeast District and the Southeast Asia Field invite the global church to join them in prayer:

1. Peace & Protection: For stability in Myanmar and safety for pastors and congregations.
2. Spiritual Roots: That new believers would grow deep in their faith.
3. Leadership: For the strengthening of indigenous leaders and the 20 ministers preparing for ordination.
4. Multiplication: The 11 pioneer areas across the Southeast Asia Field will see at least five mature into organized districts by 2030.

As the dedication concluded, leaders prayed over the building with thanksgiving—praising God for the Alabaster Offering that provided the shelter, and the local hearts that provided the land. The Southeast District Office now stands as a beacon of hope, proving that when the global church gives, and the local church serves, the Kingdom expands.
