A letter from a Myanmar pastor, Abraham

Dear partners for SEA Field 

The following letter was handwritten by Pastor Abraham, a faithful pastor serving near Yangon. In the midst of ongoing instability and hardship, Pastor Abraham continues to serve the Lord with perseverance and quiet courage. He remains committed to reaching his community with the gospel, caring for those who are suffering, and faithfully training disciples through the Course of Study (CoS).

Despite daily challenges, his ministry has not stopped. Instead, it has deepened—rooted in prayer, strengthened by faith, and sustained by hope in God. This letter reflects not only the difficult realities faced by many in Myanmar today, but also the steadfast faith of those who continue to follow Christ and serve His people under pressure.


We share Pastor Abraham’s words with you so that you may hear directly from the field and join us in prayer for him, his congregation, and the communities he continues to serve faithfully.

At present, our country is going through a very difficult and painful time. Because of ongoing conflicts, violence, and instability, many innocent people are suffering greatly. Villages have been destroyed, families have been separated, and people are forced to flee their homes. Daily life has become very hard, and fear and uncertainty surround us everywhere.


Many believers and churches are also affected by these circumstances. Some church members have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and even their loved ones. In some areas, gathering for worship has become difficult or impossible. Despite these hardships, believers continue to hold on to their faith, trusting in God and encouraging one another in prayer.


Food shortages, lack of medicine, and economic hardship are increasing day by day. Many families struggle just to survive. Children cannot attend school regularly, and the future feels uncertain for many young people. The suffering is not limited to one group; it affects people across regions, communities, and backgrounds.


In the midst of all this pain, we continue to believe that God is still at work. We believe that God sees the tears of His people and hears their cries. Even though the situation seems hopeless at times, we hold on to the hope that comes from God alone.


We humbly ask for your continued prayers—for peace in our country, for protection for the innocent, for strength for believers, and for wisdom for leaders. Please pray that God will bring healing, reconciliation, and restoration to our land.


We also ask that you remember the pastors, church leaders, and believers who are faithfully serving despite fear and hardship. May God give them courage, endurance, and deep faith to continue their ministry.

  Alabaster Walls, Local Foundations”: Global Generosity Helps Establish Myanmar Southeast District Office TOUNGOO, MYANMAR — On January 8, 2026, the global Church of the Nazarene’s faithfulness took physical form in Toungoo, Myanmar. Amidst songs of celebration, the Myanmar Southeast District dedicated its new District Office—a milestone made possible through the global generosity of the Alabaster Offering. The dedication was held alongside the 1st Assembly of the Myanmar Southeast District (January 8–9) under the theme “Faith and Action” (Hebrews 11:1).
