Please Pray Now – 900,000 Displaced Along the Thailand–Cambodia Border


Dear Prayer Partners and Friends 

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we approach the season of Christmas—a time when we proclaim “peace on earth”—we write to you with heavy hearts and an urgent prayer request. From the Thailand–Cambodia border, we come to you as intercessors for peace, asking you to stand with us in prayer during this critical moment.


“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:14)

Sadly, the land where many are longing to celebrate Christmas in peace is once again filled with fear and uncertainty. Ongoing conflict in the region, combined with recent natural disasters, has brought immense suffering to countless families along the border.

On December 8, 2025, long-standing tensions surrounding the Preah Vihear (Khao Phra Viharn) area escalated into renewed armed clashes. As a result, nearly 900,000 people have been displaced from their homes. Many families in northern Cambodia—across provinces such as Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, and Preah Vihear—have fled to temporary shelters, temples, and schools to escape the fighting.

As if war were not enough, unusually heavy rains and flooding in early December have compounded the crisis. Homes have been destroyed, livelihoods washed away, and vulnerable families are now facing hunger, cold, and uncertainty. For many, survival itself has become a daily struggle.

Dear friends, this is why we humbly ask you to pray—and to pray now.

Please join us in interceding for the following needs:

First, pray for the leaders of both nations.
Pray that government and military leaders in Thailand and Cambodia will value human life above political or nationalistic interests. May God grant them wisdom, restraint, and courage to pursue dialogue rather than violence, and to choose the path of peace and reconciliation.

Second, pray for the displaced and suffering families.
Lift up the nearly 900,000 displaced people, especially the most vulnerable—widows, the elderly, and children—who are facing hunger and exposure. Pray that God will provide protection, comfort, and daily provision. Please also pray for the urgent relief effort being prepared for 250 families (approximately 1,000 people) in northwest Cambodia, that food supplies, hygiene kits, and essential aid will be delivered quickly and safely.

Third, pray for the churches and missionaries.
Pray that the churches in Thailand and Cambodia will rise as instruments of Christ’s peace, crossing borders with love and compassion. Ask God to protect missionaries and local leaders as they serve, and that this crisis would become an opportunity for the Church to embody the gospel through acts of mercy and reconciliation.

As we think of families spending Christmas in evacuation centers and shelters, we are reminded that Jesus Himself entered our world amid uncertainty and fear. We trust that the Prince of Peace is present even now—among the displaced, the grieving, and the weary—and that He hears the prayers of His people.

Thank you for standing with us through your faithful prayers. Your intercession reaches places we cannot always go, and your prayers truly matter. May the peace of Christ guard your hearts and fill your homes this Christmas season.

Amidst songs of celebration, the Myanmar Southeast District dedicated its new District Office—a milestone made possible through the global generosity of the Alabaster Offering.
